Two safety events reported from IMCA include the tragic death of a dive instructor caused by incorrect valve threads on a diving cylinder, and a near miss incident where a diver’s umbilical became trapped. We also share an update from Safe Work Australia on managing psychosocial hazards in the workplace.
Kirby Morgan Dive Systems Bulletin
A recent incident, where a diver’s helmet locking pin opened after being caught in a harness, highlights how changes to Kirby Morgan helmets can improve safety.
In 2012, Kirby Morgan released a pull pin sleeve kit to help prevent the knob of the sealed pull pin from catching or snagging on objects or protrusions.
For further information read the Kirby Morgan bulletin (#7 of 2012) introducing the new pull pin sleeve kit, which can be used in almost all Kirby Morgan helmets.
