The new year kicked off with a week of intensive Trainer training held in New Zealand, engaging candidates from diverse hyperbaric sectors including defence and hyperbaric tunnelling. In addition, new training, policy and study resources have been published and provided to ADAS schools, and four new training school applications are being assessed and reviewed.
Changes to ADAS Board
In May 2023 ADAS farewelled long-serving Board member Dr Sarah Lockley and welcomed Dr Susannah Sherlock to the Board.

Dr Susannah Sherlock
Dr Sherlock is a practising Anaesthetic Specialist and Hyperbaric Physician, working in hospitals and private practice. In addition, Dr Sherlock is a senior clinical lecturer at the University of Queensland at the undergraduate and post graduate levels. She has a special interest in simulation and crisis management and has convened and founded an annual course for General Practitioners to increase their diving and hyperbaric medicine knowledge. As a sub-committee member for the Diving and Hyperbaric Medicine Committee of ANZCA, Dr Sherlock is passionate about safety in diving and hyperbaric medicine, and about crisis prevention and management. You can read more about Dr Sherlock’s extensive career scope on the ADAS Board of Directors page.

Dr Sarah Lockley
Dr Lockley joined the ADAS Board in August 2016 and provided valuable advice on hyperbaric medical topics. Experienced in both civilian and Navy appointments, Dr Lockley has worked as a Royal Australian Navy senior medical officer and a civilian General Practitioner, among other roles. The ADAS Board is very grateful for her contributions over the past few years, particularly during the COVID-19 pandemic while juggling an increased patient load.
