Celebrated annually under the auspices of the International Marine Organisation (IMO), May 18 2026 marks the International Day for Women in Maritime. The theme for 2026 and 2027 is From Policy to Practice: Powering Maritime Excellence.
ADAS Updates
The new year kicked off with a week of intensive Trainer training held in New Zealand, engaging candidates from diverse hyperbaric sectors including defence and hyperbaric tunnelling. In addition, new training, policy and study resources have been published and provided to ADAS schools, and four new training school applications are being assessed and reviewed.

- Standards Australia participation: final review of the 4774.1 Standard, now published
- ADAS Board of Directors: one online meeting in March 2026
- 1 x face to face instructor training course held in NZ in January 2026

- Published updated textbook for Part 2 (SSBA to 30m)
- Published updated excerpt of DCIEM tables manual for students to use as reference material

- Development of Hyperbaric tunnelling assessment tools; initial stages of online exam development
Quality assurance January – March 2026
- Desktop audits: 4 finalised
- These are audits of completed student training records against ADAS course requirements to ensure compliance with ADAS and AS 2815
- Phone and email post-course surveys: 137 students contacted; 41 responses received
- Post-course surveys: All students are contacted after their training is completed to allow them to provide feedback on ADAS courses, trainers, and training facilities
