ADAS SCUBA Review
ADAS undertakes a major review of occupational SCUBA training.
Many of you may now have heard about a tragic incident that occurred at an ADAS Accredited Training Establishment earlier this year, where trainee diver Mark Murphy sadly lost his life.
As is the case with all incidents of this type, the matter is currently under investigation by WorkCover NSW and the NSW Police, and ADAS is assisting those organisations with their investigations.
ADAS has independently undertaken a variety of actions in response to and since the incident. ADAS has:
- Undertaken its own initial investigation of the incident.
- Provided all information available to it to Police and WorkCover NSW.
- Initiated a Board level SCUBA Review Committee that will present findings to the ADAS Board.
- Issued Notification advice to other Accredited Training Establishments (ATEs), confirming and highlighting key ADAS procedures.
- Suspended the ATE until a series of specified requirements are met.
