Course Overview
This course has been developed to comply with the First Aid requirements shown in the AS/NZS 2299.1 Occupational Diving Operations Standard, and is suitable for both initial First Aid certifications and refresher training.
The course is made up of the three required First Aid components of:
- Provide First Aid module
- Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation module
- Oxygen Administration module
Students can enrol in and complete one or more of the above components, depending on their needs, which are delivered by a combination of online and face-to-face training and assessment.
Course Standards
This course meets the requirements of AS/NZS 2299.1 Occupational Diving Operations Standard. It also meets the requirements of:
- HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- HLTAID011 Provide First Aid
- PUAEME006 Administer oxygen in an emergency
Successful completion of this course results in a Statement of Attainment showing which unit/s have been completed.
Student Prerequisites
There are no prerequisites for this course.
Competencies
The units of competencies shown below are completed within each module of the Combined First Aid course.
Provide First Aid module:
- HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- HLTAID011 Provide first aid
Provide CPR module:
- HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
Oxygen Administration module:
- PUAEME006 Administer oxygen in an emergency
Delivery & Assessment
The minimum duration of each component of the Combined First Aid course is shown below.
Provide First Aid & Provide CPR modules:
- Two (2) full days of face-to-face delivery only OR
- One (1) day of combined online and face-to-face delivery
Oxygen Administration module:
- Two (2) full days of face-to-face delivery only OR
- One (1) day of combined online and face-to-face delivery
Combined First Aid course:
- Two (2) full days of face-to-face delivery (taking into consideration overlapping elements and performance criteria) OR
- One (1) day of combined online and face-to-face delivery.
